Person Centered Therapy for all ages

Where I can support you with
Anxiety
Anxiety can affect us in many different ways. You may experience constant worrying, overthinking, panic, difficulty sleeping, physical symptoms or simply feel that something isn't quite right.
At Free as a Bird Counselling, I offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your anxiety at your own pace.
Together, we can begin to understand what may be behind the way you're feeling, recognise triggers and explore strategies that can help you feel more grounded and in control.
My approach is person-centred, meaning our sessions are shaped around you and what you need. I can also incorporate techniques such as grounding, mindfulness, breathing and EFT where appropriate.
I offer anxiety counselling in Wythenshawe, Manchester, for adults, children and young people, with face-to-face and online sessions available.
Child and Younge People Therapy
At Free as a Bird Counselling, I believe every child and young person deserves to feel heard, understood and valued.
Children don't always have the words to explain how they're feeling. Through play, creativity and gentle conversation, I provide a safe and relaxed space where they can express themselves in a way that feels natural and comfortable for them.
Sessions can include a variety of creative activities and materials, such as drawing, games, sensory activities and imaginative play. Rather than expecting a child to sit and talk, I follow their lead and use the activities they choose to help them explore their emotions, experiences and any difficulties they may be facing.
My approach is person-centred, which means every session is tailored to the individual child or young person. There is no pressure to talk before they are ready. Building trust and helping them feel safe comes first.
Where appropriate, animal-assisted therapy can also be incorporated into sessions, offering another gentle way for children and young people to feel comfortable, connected and supported.
I offer child and young person counselling from my private practice in Wythenshawe, Manchester, supporting a range of emotional and wellbeing needs.
Bereavement
Grief is different for everyone. There is no right or wrong way to grieve and no set amount of time in which you should feel "better."
Bereavement can bring many emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, loneliness and sometimes even relief. These feelings can come and go, sometimes when you least expect them.
At Free as a Bird Counselling, I offer you a safe and compassionate space to talk about your loss, your memories and how life has changed for you.
You don't have to hide how you're feeling or worry about being a burden. I will meet you wherever you are in your grief and support you as you begin to find your own way forward, while remembering and valuing what you have lost.
I offer bereavement and grief counselling in Wythenshawe, Manchester, for adults, children and young people.
Trauma
Trauma can affect people in many different ways, and sometimes its impact can continue long after an experience has ended.
You might experience difficult memories, anxiety, anger, fear, feeling constantly on edge, emotional numbness or changes in the way you see yourself and others.
At Free as a Bird Counselling, you don't have to tell your whole story before you're ready.
I provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where we can work at your pace. Building trust and helping you feel safe is an important part of the therapeutic relationship.
My person-centred approach allows us to explore your experiences and emotions in a way that feels manageable for you, while incorporating grounding and other supportive techniques where appropriate.

Relationships
Relationships can be an important part of our lives, but they can also bring difficult and sometimes painful emotions.
You may be experiencing relationship difficulties, separation, family conflict, friendship problems, trust issues or struggling with patterns from previous relationships.
Counselling gives you a confidential space to explore what's happening, how your relationships are affecting you and what you would like to change.
At Free as a Bird Counselling, I won't judge you or tell you what decisions to make. Instead, I will support you in understanding your feelings, recognising patterns and finding a way forward that feels right for you.
I offer individual counselling for relationship and family difficulties in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
Adolescent Therapy
Being a teenager or young person can sometimes feel overwhelming. School pressures, friendships, family relationships, anxiety, self-esteem, identity and worries about the future can all become difficult to manage.
Sometimes it can be easier to talk to someone outside of your family or school.
At Free as a Bird Counselling, I provide young people with a relaxed, confidential and non-judgemental space where they can be themselves.
Sessions don't have to involve sitting and talking for 50 minutes. Depending on the young person's interests and needs, we can use conversation, creative activities, games, mindfulness or other therapeutic approaches.
I work in a person-centred way, allowing the young person to take the lead while I support them in understanding their emotions, building confidence and developing ways of coping with the difficulties they are experiencing.
Animal-assisted support can also be incorporated into sessions where appropriate.
I offer teenage and young person counselling in Wythenshawe, Manchester, with sessions tailored to each individual.
